Fontanelle Forest Topographic Model

High-resolution topographic model of the Fontenelle Forest area

Project Overview
This project involved creating a high-resolution topographic model of the Fontenelle Forest area for use in visualization and educational contexts. The model was developed from geographic location data and required accurate representation of elevation, terrain features, and spatial relationships. The focus of the work was to balance visual clarity with
real-world accuracy while ensuring the model was suitable for both digital presentation and physical fabrication.
Project Snapshot
-
Client: Fontenelle Forest Nature Center
-
Project Type: Terrain & Spatial Visualization
-
Tools: Maya, GIS, Photoshop
-
My Role: Terrain modeling, topology cleanup, scale accuracy, visual optimization
-
Status: In production / Partially completed (digital + physical components)
Process & Development
The terrain was modeled using geographic data as a base, followed by manual refinement to clean topology and enhance readability of elevation changes. Particular attention was paid to scale accuracy, slope transitions, and the overall legibility of the landscape when viewed both up close and at a distance. The final model was optimized to clearly communicate terrain features while remaining adaptable for multiple presentation formats.
